Previously, Brian was a founder of Tridium and architect of Tridium’s software framework products. He designed and implemented the core subsystems for two generations of the Niagara Framework, widely acclaimed as a leading technology in the IoT space. During his tenure at Tridium, he also led the design of the open source Sedona Framework—a programmable control engine for smart sensors and embedded controllers. It is based on several ISO standards. He chaired the Data and Formulas Work Group for the TCO ANSI Standard development As the Product Evangelist for BIMobject, Steve educated Building Product Manufacturers and Contractors all over the world to understand how manufacturer specific digital content is leveraged in the built environment. Steve is an original member of the AEC Hackathon Board of Directors participating in AEC Hackathons all over the world. He has presented on Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) an ISO 16739:2013 Standard. Formerly Steve led eM8s, a technology consulting service based just outside of Ann Arbor, Mich. eM8s developed and implemented technology in the construction industry primarily utilizing data-driven web systems. Steve served as a member of the National Institute of Building Science (NIBS) buildingSMARTalliance (bSa) Council, a member of the NBIMS-US Project Committee, a member of the Terminology Committee, a member of the Implementation Committee, Vice-Chair of the Market Education committee. Steve has led numerous enterprise system implementations and developed complete CRM, eCommerce, Product Configuration, and ERP systems in companies with annual revenues from $10 Million to $100 Million. The Unit Cost Purchasing system he developed and implemented for two neighboring home building companies allowed them both to thrive through the latest economic downturn. Steve was a longtime member of the National Association of Homebuilders. At NAHB he served on the Business Management and Information Technology Committee, the Design Committee, and the Education Committee.
